As if you were there: a "rounded" effect!
In this mobility, students shot a 360° panoramic video of an open-air museum producing a virtual reality film. In this panoramic video, students told the story of that place with articulated presentations of the place, an environment in situations that allow virtual visits from various points of view in high resolution. Many students had their special devices 360 degree cameras to shoot this kind of video. Firstly, we divided the students into groups, each of which had participants from different countries. Then we told them about what we expected from them but we were also open to new ideas coming from them: we took these ideas into consideration to make this activity more efficient and joyful. After sharing the thoughts and deciding on what was to be done, the students conducted online pre-research about the history of the place where they were going to shoot that video because they told the history of that place with the panoramic video. After doing this, the students traveled to the places and shot their 360° panoramic videos. Later, they edited their videos and their own voiceover telling its history. stitching and editting the videos with a 360 degree cams was the most difficult part for them.
When someone watches the 360° video about that place, they are transported inside it, immersed in the photographed scene and can look all around and zoom in on the details of the environment, almost as if they were there at that moment. Permission to shoot this kind of film was granted before mobility so as to minimise potential problems. There were different local options in case of problems. By the end of the activity, the students learned how to shoot that kind of film and to include the history of the place. After the activity the students integrated their knowledge with the post activities of their schools. For example, they shot a panoramic video of their school. They also had the opportunity to prepare more effective videos in their classrooms and had a new and interactive view of places and spaces. They could minimise boredom about the school environment in different subjects and make their school learning environment more pleasant and "rounded".
In the end of this activity, students were able to use a new method of shooting a video. That was 360° panoramic video. They use this knowledge in their learning
environment. They were able to prepare more useful and efficient videos in their schools. They also learned the history enjoyfully. Because they could apply this
knowledge in history easily. They could produce their own 360° panoramic video of a historical site or anywhere. In fact, they could prepare a type of
documentary and their interest in documentaries have risen. They also developed team work in that activity. Because the groups in this activity consisted of the
participants from different countries. They also had the chance to improve their language skills as all the group members needed to communicate with each
other in English. They learned the history of other countries with this activity. They had the chance to have a virtual tour of the place in which they shot the
video. They also learned the culture of the different countries and shared their own culture with others.
The panaromic videos of the groups are below. Enjoy watching!
