Klosterschulen Unserer Lieben Frau Offenburg         www.klosterschulen-offenburg.de

Klosterschulen Unserer Lieben Frau, state-approved private school, established in 2001 has a very long tradition as a Catholic school. Our school is in Offenburg, a city with a population of about 60.000. The region "Ortenau" borders on France and Offenburg is next to Strasbourg. The Klosterschulen is a mono-educational school for girls and we have two school forms, the Realschule offers the opportunity to graduate receiving a graduate diploma and our grammar school traditionally ends with a higher school certificate. Students attending the grammar school can choose between the regular 8-year track or the alternative 9-year track to the Abitur. This is a unique situation in our municipality which makes it attractive for a lot of. Besides we specialize in supporting girls in STEM subjects and offer an environment in which they can develop their skills in Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science. There are round about 1,000 students of which approximately two-thirds attend the grammar school (1/3 of which attend the 9 years and 1/3 of those who attend the 8-year track) and one third attend the Realschule. All in all, there are 38 classes we have 90 teachers and seven non-teaching staff.

At the Klosterschulen we aim at developing independent, strong-minded, well-educated and motivated young women who become active members within our society. We are an official UNESCO school and member of the "Schools against Racism - Schools in favor of Courage" network. Within these networks, we are already cooperating with schools in Israel, France or Poland and had cooperation with a school in Australia. At this moment we are participating in a project involving nine neighboring countries along the river Donau called "Don@u Online 2020". Our teaching staff is highly motivated in approaching new ways of communication with schools situated in other countries and willing to use modern technology and platforms to do so. Our teaching staff is rapidly changing at the moment because we are hiring many innovative young teachers.

The project we are submitting is going to further our students' language, communicative, intercultural, ICT and social skills. Working alongside colleagues from different parts of the EU will help our staff immensely to gain insights into new or different ways of teaching and cooperative learning. Thus we are looking forward to working together with our project partners in an efficient and effective way. Right now we are also updating our digital infrastructure and training teachers in a new online platform. Our English, Social Studies and Economics teacher, Patrick Hand, who is the Erasmus plus coordinator at our school, will oversee the implementation of the project. Mr. Arens, the headmaster, is supporting the implementation
